Chiefs go down to Bucks

MONDAY, 9.40AM:

KAIZER CHIEFS went down 2-1 to Bush Bucks in a Premier Soccer League match at Johannesburg Stadium on Saturday, in an entertaining game in which both teams played attacking football from the first whistle.

Bucks opened the score in the 40th minute through striker Vincent Skhosana after capitalising on a defensive mistake by captain Neil Tovey. Skhosana completed his brace in the 55th minute. Chiefs brought in Thabang Lebese for Jacob Tshisevhelate in the second half, who changed the complexion of the game forcing goalkeeper Mark Anderson to make a difficult save. Humphrey Mlwane scored the only goal for the ” Mighty Amakhosi” in the 83rd minute.

* Moroka Swallows and former Bafana Bafana defender Edward Motale scored the only goal of the match as they beat AmaZulu 1-0 at Orlando Stadium on Sunday. Motale connected a Cleophas Dlodlo free kick in the 23rd minute. Swallows coach Sheperd Murape was very pleased with their perfomance. “But at the end of the day the three points are what counts,” he said.

* Cape Town Spurs beat African Wanderers 2-0 in a Premier Soccer League match at Kings Park Stadium on Sunday. Moomba Ngandu scored Spurs’ first goal in the 36th minute and Reggie Mentoor made it 2-0 in the 66th minute.

* Wits University snached a 1-0 victory over QwaQwa Stars at President Steyn Stadium on Sunday. Under-23 international Stanton Fredericks scored the only goal of the match in 54th minute.

* Mamelodi Sundowns and Hellenic drew their Premier Soccer League match 1-1 at Greenpoint Stadium on Saturday. Hellenic were the first to score when Jason Jacob fired a powerful shot past Sundowns’ goalkeeper John Tlale in the second minute. Sundowns had to wait until six minutes from fulltime before they equalised through an Alex Bapela’s goal.

* Lightbody Santos registered their first win in the Premier Soccer League when they beat Real Rovers 1-0 at Pietersburg Stadium on Sunday. Santos goal was scored by Duncan Crowie early in the first half.
