THURSDAY, 1.15PM:
JOMO Cosmos boss Jomo Sono said he wil not put unnecessary pressure on his players to beat Al-Mansoura of Egypt when the two sides meet in a Caf Cup Winners Cup match at PAM Brink on Saturday. He said it is the experience of playing in Africa that means a lot to them.
“My players are still young and the experience they’ve gained will stand us in good stead in the future,” said Sono. “We are not in a rush to conquer Africa.”
He said Al-Mansoara won the first leg because they were playing in front of the home crowd. “But we are playing at home this time, and if we can get an early goal, I’m sure we can suprise them,” he said.
Meanwhile, Al-Mansoura will take Saturday’s game as a new game despite starting with a 3-0 lead. Head coach Hassan Megahid said: “The ball is round and if we sit back anticipating an easy afternoon, we could be in for a rude awakening.”
Megahid admitted that Cosmos is a good side and he expects them to come charging like wounded tigers. “I hope and trust that the result falls in our favour. In fact, if we can get an early goal Cosmos will have to scale Mount Everest,” he said.
