SA declares on 367/4

MONDAY, 1.30PM:

SOUTH AFRICA hammered a 367/4 declared on the opening day of their three-day clash against the Allied Bank XI at the Arbob Niaz Stadium in Peshawar on Sunday. The home side were at 60/2 at close with captain Aamir Sohail hammering nine boundaries in his unbeaten 40.

Perfect batting by the visitors helped them to a massive innings of 367/4, with Jacques Kallis scoring 134 not out, Adam Bacher 62, Daryll Cullinan 87 and Andrew Hudson 42.

Both Hudson and Kallis were caught by Arshad Khan; Hudson was caught from behind and Kallis at forward. “I’m sorry I didn’t have more time out there against their spinners. But I’m happy with my form,” said Hudson. “Basically It was my first outing of the season so I’m quite pleased at the way I’m striking the ball.”

Cullinan as always oozed class throughout his two hours at the crease. He hit 87 with 14 fours.

ZIM VICTORIOUS ZIMBABWE beat Kenya by six wickets in the President’s Cup tournament in Nairobi on Sunday. Zimbabwe, whose target was revised after the rain, finished on 244/4 in reply to Kenya’s 249/8.

STRANSKY SCORES 17 JOEL STRANSKY kicked four conversions for Leicester for a personal tally of 17 as they beat Milan 37-29 in a European Cup Pool A rugby match in London on Sunday. They will host Glasgow in the quater-finals.

PIRATES LOSE TO PRIMIERO ORLANDO Pirates went down 2-1 to Angola’s Premiero de Agosto in an African Champions League Group A match at the Citadela Stadium in Luanda, Angola on Sunday.
