SOUTH African Rugby Football Union CEO Rian Oberholzer on Wednesday confirmed that Sarfu has received two new nominations for both president and vice-president.
Speaking in Cape Town, Oberlholzer said Border’s Mluleki George and Natal’s Keith Parkinson will oppose Louis Luyt for the presidency. Mpumalanga and Eastern Province presidents Hennie Erasmus and Silas Nkanunu repectively, will stand against George for the vice-presidency. He said George — current senior vice-president of Sarfu — will be available for re-election should he not make it as president. The elections will be held on November 4.
Oberholzer said Western Province’s Tobie Titus will be affirmed as the junior vice-president as he is the only candidate to replace unavailable Professor Johan Claasen of North West.
Nine new nominations received for the executive are Jackie Abrahams (Boland), George Davids (EP), Mac Hendricks (GL), Chris Heunis (SWD), Ronnie Masson (WP), Tos Smith (GW), Tobie van Rooyen (NFS), Harold Verster (FS) and Thelo Wakefield (WP).
The incumbents are Erasmus, Masson (co-opted), Nkanunu, Parkinson, Arthob Petersen, Hentie Serfontein, Tobie Titus with CEO Rian Oberholzer.
