Parkinson calls for fairness

NATAL Rugby Union president Keith Pakinson believes he is the right man to step into Louis Luyt’s shoes as the next South African Ruby Football Union (Sarfu) president. Pakinson made a public statement ahead of Tuesday’s Sarfu election. saying: “We deparately need a national controlling body that serves in a fair and equitable way the needs and aspirations of all the provincial rugby unions.” he said.

“We need to take steps to ensure that the Springbok team is feared and respected when it defends the World Cup in 1999.”

He said if he is elected on Tuesday he will quit the Natal presidency. SPORT BRIEFS

BAFANA SQUAD NAMEDBAFANA Bafana coach Clive Barker will announce a 19-man squad on Friday afternoon for the friendly match against Germany in Dusseldorf on November 15. The squad to be anounced by Barker will exclude all the players from the Rothmans Cup semi-finalists – Kaizer Chiefs, Manning Rangers, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
