Six Bafana dropped for Brazil

FRIDAY, 2.35AM:

BAFANA BAFANA coach Clive Barker dropped six players and recalled most of the players missing from the international friendly against Germany last weekend, for the clash against Brazil at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg on December 7.

Edries Burton (AmaZulu), Thabo Mngomeni (Bush Bucks), Junaid Hartley (Lens), Simon Gopane (Bloemfontein Celtic), Frank Schoeman (Bush Bucks) and Carlos das Neves (Hellenic) have all been dropped. Barker said the squad named on Friday would be trimmed down to 20 players for the Confederation Cup tournament in Saudi Arabia from December 12-21. “I will reduce the squad to 20 players and will use this weekend’s (league) matches as a guide as to who will remain,” he said.

The squad:

Goalkeepers: Andre Arendse (Fulham, Eng), Brian Baloyi (Kaizer Chiefs), Mark Anderson (Bush Bucks).

Defenders: Willem Jackson (Orlando Pirates), Lucas Radebe (Leeds, Eng), Sizwe Motaung and Neil Tovey (both Kaizer Chiefs), Mark Fish (Bolton Wanderers, Eng), Pierre Issa (Olympique Marseilles, France), David Nyathi (St Gallen, Switzerland).

Midfielders: Doctor Khumalo (Kaizer Chiefs), John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu (Kocaelispor, Turkey), John Moeti (Orlando Pirates), Eric Tinkler (Barnsley, Eng), Helman Mkhalele (Kayserispor, Turkey), Dumisani Ngobe (Orlando Pirates), Alex Bapela (Sundowns), Clinton Larsen (Manning Rangers), Brian Sebapole (Jomo Cosmos), Jabu Mnguni (Vaal Professionals).
