Pollock vs Pollock on Tuesday

MONDAY, 11.00AM:

NATAL fast bowler Shaun Pollock is a certian starter in the opening game against the Australian Cricket Board Chairman’s XI at the Lilac Hill Park on Tuesday. Although the squad will only be announced later on Monday, Pollock will certianly play against his legendary uncle Graeme Pollock, who is one of the “golden oldies” invited to play against the visiting South Africans.

“Yes, you can reckon on Shaun playing,” said South African Captain Hansie Cronje. Pollock has become one of the most trusted bowlers in the SA squad and is fast making a name for himself in the world. He said he is looking forward to playing against his uncle. “The last time I bowled to him I was about 10. It was Christmas in our backyard in Durban,” said Pollock.

Cronje said they will take the game very seriously, because: “The Chairman’s XI includes a number of West Australian state players, so we won’t be able to take it easy.”
