THE South African A cricket side on tour in Sri Lanka recorded a 1-0 series victory over Sri Lanka A on Monday when the third unofficial Test was abandoned as a draw.
Sri Lanka A scored 181 in their first innings, and in their follow-up innings managed to score 158/4 when the match was abandoned with three overs to go. The Lankans followed up still 191 runs behind the SA A total.
When the match was called off Manoj Mendis was unbeaten on 40 and his partner Indika de Saram had notched up 23.
Herman Bakkes, who took 3/31 in the Lankan first innings added another three second innings wickets to his haul, and ended on figures of 6/69 for the match.
The South Africans will now be looking to beat the Lankans in the limited-overs series, the first match of which starts on Thursday at Matara.
