GRIQUAS continued their run of success in the Bankfin Currie Cup rugby competition when they beat Northern Free State 52-19 in Welkom’s North West Stadium on Friday night.
Griquas did everything at a cracking pace and ran in five tries during the first 35 minutes to chalk up a 33-7 half-time lead. The visitors dominated all phases play. Their backs played with flair, finesse and at an unstoppable tempo. They touched down eight times to the three tries of the home side.
In the final seven minutes Northern Free State scored two quick tries in three minutes before the final whistle.
In the curtain-raiser the Northern Free State President’s team were 17-14 victors over their Griquas counterparts.
