KENYAN International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Charles Mukora quit the IOC on Wednesday in the wake of the votes-for-favours scandal. However, Mukora said he was an “innocent victim” and that he would retain his other positions. He is first vice-chairman of the Commonwealth Games Federation, a post to which he was elected in Kuala Lumpur last September, chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya and a council member of the International Amateur Athletics Federation. “I have decided in principle to accept [the advice of IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch ],” he said, adding: “It is my considered opinion that I was an innocent victim of circumstances.” Muroka is the fourth IOC member to quit over the votes-for-favours scandal.
