TOXIC SPILL FROM PETER PAN

THE N1 highway south of Warmbaths in Northern Province was closed on Wednesday morning after 800 bags of highly explosive, powdered Xanthnate fell on to the road. Police spokesperson Captain Blackie Swart said waste disposal experts were called into remove the powder before it rained. People within a one-kilometre radius were evacuated. The powder — being transported by a truck belonging to Peter Pan Transport Company — littered the highway when the truck’s tow-bar broke at about 5am. The trailer came loose and rolled across the highway which was to be opened between 3pm and 4pm. The truck transporting the powder belonged to the Peter Pan Transport Company.
