AVENGING their earlier loss at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs, Bush Bucks stole the show in Umtata 1-0 on Sunday.
The match provided a few close calls. Bucks’ William Mugeyi gave Brain Baloyi some work to do with a crisp free kick in the 12th minute.
Then Chiefs’ Pollen Ndlanya was robbed of a goal in the 20th minute by Bucks’ defender Marvin Claasen. Doctor Khumalo was booked for delaying a free kick.
The winning goal came from some slick passing between Tshepo Ntsoane and Patrick Mayo, allowing Ntsoane to split Chiefs defense and score.
Moroka Swallows moved one step closer to relegation after a 4-0 drubbing by SuperSport United. The Birds looked disorganised and listless, failing to capitalise on scoring chances, while United made the most of their opportunities.
Glen Salmon scored in the 10th minute off a header, and sent Raymond Seopa a cross in the 73rd to increase the lead to 2-0. Tauya Mrewa scored in the 75th, and finished the job with his second in the 85th minute.
QwaQwa Stars took a 2-1 win away from Vaal Professionals in Sharpeville on Sunday. Bunene Ngaduane beat defender Solly Nketle before rustling an empty net with his shot. Stars went two up on the strength of a Meshack “Maradona” Tsotetsi strike, who also walked past Nketle, ruining the Professionals defender’s day.
Tsotetsi’s goal rallied the Professionals, who then scored in the 84th minute on a blistering effort by Victor Nhlapo.
Cape Town Spurs needed only 10 men to draw AmaZulu 2-2 at Kings Park. David Modise took AmaZulu’s momentum by scoring first for Spurs in the 23rd minute. AmaZulu equalised in the 37th, and went ahead on a penalty shot in the 68th minute.
Spurs’ goalkeeper was sent off in the 69th minute for arguing, and then Bruce Ramokadi brought the game to a draw with a long-range blast past a sleepy Wade du Plessis.
Dynamos held League leader Manning Rangers to a scoreless draw, thanks to goalkeeper Botende Eshele, and the weakness of Rangers’ strikers.
