ZIM MILLERS CUT GOVT LOOSE

ZIMBABWE’S food manufacturers, choking from galloping production costs, have warned that they will ignore the gentleman’s agreement with the government not to hike prices of their products without government’s approval. They said their decision to take unilateral action stems from the tripartite negotiating forum grouping labour, business and the government to discuss price increases taking too long. Last week Industry and Commerce Minister Nathan Shamuyarira instructed bakers and millers to lower the prices of their flour and bread after these were increased without the government’s green light.
