ZAMBIA FLIES JOURNOS TO BORDER

THE Zambian government flew journalists on Tuesday to the western town of Zambezi on the border with Angola to show that Zambia is not involved in arms deals with Unita rebels. Journalists inspected an airstrip in the area. The move follows repeated Angolan government accusations that the airstrip was being used by some top Zambian government officials to transport arms to Unita rebels in exchange for diamonds. The accusations have resulted in a diplomatic rift between the two countries but Lusaka has denied the charges. A series of bomb blasts rocked the Zambian capital last week, with one of them exploding at the Angolan embassy.
