A MAGNIFICENT reversed stick goal by South African women’s hockey captain and player of the match Karen Roberts 11 minutes before the end gave South Africa a resounding 2-1 victory over a star-studded Australian touring side at Hartleyvale on Sunday. The teams were locked at 1-1 at half time. The South Africans bounced back superbly after losing the first test 3-0. They were quicker to the ball, stronger in the tackle and played with grim determination. The Australians squandered many chances with bouts of lapsed concentration. The South Africans, by contrast, made no mistakes with their fewer chances.
