ACT Brumbies scored their biggest victory in the four-year history of the Super 12 when they thrashed South Africa’s Northern Bulls 73-9 on Saturday. The Brumbies scored 10 unanswered tries to wreck the Bulls, producing superb form in the wet conditions. Fullback Joe Roff scored 22 points for the Brumbies from two tries, two penalty goals and three conversions before limping off late in the game with what appeared to be a recurrence of an ankle injury. The Brumbies led 23-9 at halftime with the Bulls staying in the game thanks to the boot of Franco Smith. But the second half proved to be a procession for the home side as they ran in seven more tries against the Bulls, who have now lost four of five games this season. The Brumbies moved to sixth place on the Super 12 ladder with the win, after a disastrous start when they lost their opening two matches in South Africa.
