UGANDAN PRINCE MURDERED

A MEMBER of the royal family in one of Uganda’s revived monarchies was murdered in the capital Kampala on Saturday. Prince Charles Happy Kijanangoma of western Uganda’s Toro kingdom died instantly on Thursday night after being shot more than 10 times in the back at a pub in Fort Portal, police said. A guard at the bar who saw the killers’ getaway vehicle was also shot dead, a police officer said. The murdered prince had just attended a court hearing in which he challenged Queen Mother Best Kemigisha for control over the kingdom’s assets. Prince Kijanangoma, along with another prince, lodged a caveat which was being challenged in the courts by the queen mother and the kingdom’s Prime Minister John Katuramu, to be judged on April 26.
