NAVY ON EXERCISES

THE South African Navy will participate in two international exercises in April and May, navy chief, Vice Admiral Robert Simpson-Anderson, announced in Simon’s Town on Wednesday. Simpson-Anderson, said navy ships, together with ocean patrol vessels from the French and Indian navies, will participate in exercise Blue Crane. The exercise, presented by the South African National Defence Forces, will be held off Durban from April 13-30. A task group will sail from Simon’s Town on April 18 for Rio de Janeiro where they will participate in exercise Atlasur IV, a biennial exercise with the navies of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay from April 29 to May 11.
