Hansie’s boys hammer Pakistan MONDAY, 10.30AM:

SOUTH African captain Hanse Cronje led his team to a stunning three-wicket victory against Pakistan in the one-day limited-overs international at Buffalo Park in East London on Saturday, claiming man-of-the-match title after taking two for 17, in ten overs.

Some 13 000 people attended the match to see Cronje’s men extend their unbeaten run over Pakistani captain Rashid Latif’s side to ten since the Mandela Trophy tournament in 1994/95. South African batting was slick and tight, with Mike Rindell blasting 85 off 66 balls, Sean Pollock sending 66 off 75 balls, and Cronje sending three sixes into the crowds.

South Africa, who need one more win to ensure their place in the final of the Standard Bank triangular international series at Newlands, are sitting on six points.

Pakistan have four and Sri Lanka are sitting on zero after being beaten by Latif’s team twice last week.
