FRENCH WIN NIGERIAN AIRPORT BID

THE Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, which runs Nigeria’s airports, was on Thursday awarded the contract to build a $33-million new domestic terminal at Lagos to French group Bouygues. FAAN MD Peter Igbinedion said that the work on the 30-billion naira project is due to start next month and the contract is scheduled for completion in the middle of 2000. He added that FAAN was planning to award the contract for maintenance of the Abuja and Lagos international airports to German group Julius Berger.

LANGEBAAN DEVELOPMENT HALTED

THE South African National Parks has rejected five applications to redevelop the well-known Langebaan Lodge on the West Coast, SANP director of commercial development and tourism, Richard Willys, said on Thursday. He said the applications had insufficient information in order to pre-qualify as developers. “The selection panel was also concerned about the small number of submissions received,” he added. He said investors would be invited for a second time to submit proposals to develop the lodge site.
