GANG DRIVES THROUGH SHOPPING MALL

AN organised gang drove a truck through Fourways Mall in Johannesburg on Sunday morning before smashing it through a glass window of a shop and driving off with R750000 worth of clothing. Superintendent Chris Wilken said on Monday that 12 gunmen in three vehicles reversed a truck through a glass entrance to the mall and drove about 20m down a passageat 4.30am on Sunday. They smashed a second truck through the glass entrance of the clothing store and within minutes grabbed R750000 worth of clothing from the shop, piling some of it on top of a guard who they had forced to lie on the floor of the truck. As they left the scene, they saw a security guard inside the Woolworths store nearby in the mall. They fired five shots at him through the glass window, but he was not injured. The security guard was dropped, unharmed, in Soweto.
