FOREIGNERS STILL IN ANGOLA

REPORTS from Angola continue to claim that Namibian and Zimbabwean troops are aiding the Angolan army, in a major offensive aimed at dislodging Unita rebels from positions along the country’s northern border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Namibia has vociferously denied that any Namibian troops are taking part in a joint offensive in Angola. Namibian Defence Force spokesman Vincent Mwange described earlier reports in the Angolan media that the NDF was involved as “baseless, malicious and void of any truth”. The reports by the Angolan weekly Agora and Portuguese news agency Lusa said the army launched a two-pronged attack last Tuesday.
