FORMER United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader in the Western Cape Johan Slabbert on Friday announced he has joined the African Christian Democratic Party. He resigned from the UDM for what he thought was the best political solution for the country and the province. He realised that the basic problem is that of relationships. “If you really want lasting racial reconciliation in this country you need to look wider than just narrow political solutions. When you look at the spiritual angle, something new opens up,” Slabbert said in a statement. UDM Western Cape provincial secretary Malizole Diko wished Slabbert well in his new political career.
