SOUTH AFRICAN WINS MAEKYUNG OPEN

SOUTH African James Kingston scored an improbable victory in the Maekyung Daks Open on Sunday after beating Myanmar’s Kyi Hla Han in a sudden-death play-off. Kingston, who also won the Thailand Open last year in extra time, holed a 12-foot birdie putt to defeat Han on the fourth play-off hole, after the diminutive Myanmar golfer narrowly missed two opportunities to take the title. In-form Kingston led the $250000 event from the first round but after Han, helped by an eagle on the 14th, drew level, the South African was on the back foot in the play-off, played over the 410-yard par-four 18th hole. The Hong-Kong-based Han missed 12 and 4 foot putts to allow Kingston to slip through with the win.
