GOOD VOTING FIGURES FOR MPUMALANGA

AN estimated 60% of registered voters in Mpumalanga had cast their ballots by 6pm, with only a couple of polling stations in the former KwaNdebele reporting possible delays. Some polling stations in Daggakraal and Burgersfort had already reported over 95% voter turnout. IEC provincial electoral officer, Steve Ngwenya, told journalists at a press briefing that official figures indicated that only 20% of voters in Mpumalanga had voted but raw data currently being input into the IEC’s computer system boosted that figure to over 60%. Only four stations in the Moutse and Mbabine area reported serious delays that may lead to an extension of voting hours, he said.
