NIGERIAN bank workers on Tuesday suspended a strike action launched two weeks ago over better pay and working conditions following the decision of employers to negotiate, union officials said.”The ongoing action is hereby suspended with immediate effect,” Princewell Ojeh, president of the Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions said. Ojeh urged bank workers to return to work immediately, and said the suspension will allow the union to pursue negotiations with employers. “Our employers secretariat has now agreed to dialogue with us in respect of our demand,” he said. The strike action was launched on May 24. It came on the heels of a nationwide strike by teachers and public sector workers.
