NORTHERN Province premier Ngoako Ramatlhodi this week sacked the acting head of the education department, Professor Harry Nengwenkhulu, and was sharply criticised for it. Nengwenkhulu was the first senior official to be sacked since Ramatlhodi was reinstated as premier two weeks ago. He was given the news last week, and his last day at work as acting superintendent-general of education is on Wednesday, June 30. Ramatlhodi has not given reasons for the axing, and the move has been criticised by teachers’ and pupils’ organisations.
