SOUTH African Airways has announced a code-share partnership with Varig (Viacao Aerea Riograndense) and with Aerolineas Argentinas, ensuring that it will double its frequency between South America and South Africa from two flights to four a week. Effective from Thursday, the airline will fly every Sunday and Thursday non-stop between Johannesburg and Sao Paulo. On the days the airline flies to Sao Paulo, seamless connections for passengers flying onward to Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and Santiago, Chile will be provided by Aerolineas and Varig. On Saturday, it will commence non-stop services between Johannesburg and Buenos Aires every Tuesday and Saturday, with onward connections from Buenos Aires to Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Santiago. Coleman Andrews, South African Airline’s chief executive officer, says the airline is aiming for daily service between the two continents.
