THE African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday said it is shocked and angered by the murder of an ANC councillor in the midlands. In a statement ANC provincial secretary Sipho Gcabashe said a Georgedale ward councillor, Thulani Tetane, was shot and wounded while he was returning from a community meeting where he had reported on criminals that were recently arrested in connection with stock theft. He was taken to Grey’s Hospital where he died on Monday. Gcabashe said the assailants were known to the local police but no one had been arrested. KwaZulu-Natal midlands police spokesman Senior Superintendent Henry Budhram said police were aware of the attack on Tetane but had not been informed about his death.
