TUESDAY, 10.00AM:
BOTHA ROSSOUW, the former Springbok loose forward, will return to the South Western Districts Eagles rugby side for their Currie Cup match against the Golden Lions at Ellis Park on Friday night.
Rossouw has been troubled by a knee injury for most of the season, and will add spice to the SWD pack for the game that is widely regarded as a “revenge” match. The Lions beat the Eagles in a Vodacom Cup semi-final match in Johannesburg six weeks ago.
The Lions, meanwhile, will name their team later in the week, as they are having problems with injuries and the absence of key players.
Emerging Springbok hooker Owen Nkumane, scrumhalf and skipper Johan Roux, and reserve hooker Chris Rossouw, are all sidelined by injury.
The long-awaited return of Springbok winger James Small has also been put on hold, with Small only due to arrive in Johannesburg when coach Dawie Snyman returns from Cape Town, where he is coaching the national Under-21 team.
SWD Team: Theo van Rensburg, Barney Vorster, Fanie Heyman, Conrad Stoltz, Manie du Toit, Jacques Benade(c), Freddie Roberts, Denzil Frans, Johan Kapp, Lodewyk Hattingh, Botha Rossouw, Thys Stoltz, Jaco Espach, Tommie Webb, Sias Wagner.
