UNCAPPED loose forward Anton Leonard has been called into the South African squad for their Tri-Nations match against Australia in Brisbane next Saturday. Leonard – who plays for Super 12 semi-finalists The Stormers, once captaining them – will fly out on Monday as cover for injured flankers Rassie Erasmus and Corne Krige. Erasmus missed Saturday’s test against New Zealand with a cracked rib while Krige was injured in the 28-0 defeat. Bok caoch Nick Mallett said: “I spoke to Andre Markgraaff who I respect a lot and he agreed with me that Anton Leonard is a fine player. He plays the game the way I like. He is very fast and powerful”. “Leonard can cover positions six, seven and eight. I also thought of AJ Venter. If I was looking for a flank I might have gone for Ruben Kruger, but I believe he hasn’t been playing that well. We have to go for form players,” he added.
