BLOCKADE DELAYS N4 TOLL PLAZA OPENING

PROTESTERS who on Monday morning blockaded the new Nkomazi toll plaza near Malelane in a show of solidarity aginst high toll fees, had by lunch time dispersed. An estimated 250 farmers joined hundreds of taxi protestors at the new toll plaza to prevent the oficial opening on Monday afternoon. The first taxi protestors physically blockaded the toll plaza on Sunday night. They parked their vehicles in front of the plaza in an attempt to force the toll road management company, Trans African Concessions, to postpone the opening indefinitely. Trac executive officer Trevor Jackson and community representatives went into emergency talks on the issue on Monday morning.
