TAXIS BLOCKADE TOLL ROAD

AN estimated 250 farmers joined hundreds of taxi protestors at the new Nkomazi toll plaza near Malelane in Mpumalanga on Monday morning in a show of solidarity against high toll fees. Police reported that at least 500 vehicles were parked alongside the new toll plaza at midday on Monday to prevent its official opening on Monday afternoon. The first taxi protestors blockaded the toll plaza on Sunday night, parking their vehicles in front of the plaza and forcing toll road management company, Trans African Concessions (Trac) to indefinitely postpone the opening.
