VIGILANTES BURN MAN TO DEATH IN ALEXANDRA

A 27-year-old man was assaulted and burned to death by a group of people in Alexandra township on Sunday night. Police spokesman Captain Lungelo Dlamini says Pule Mokonyane allegedly had an argument with the group about criminal activities in the area. The group tried attack him but he was rescued by the police, who took him into protective custody at the nearest police station. When he left the station a few hours later, he was assaulted with sharp objects, doused with a flammable substance and torched. He died at the scene.
