ALITALIA FLYING BACK TO ALGIERS

ITALIAN air carrier Alitalia is ready to resume flights to Algeria, the deputy head of the airline, Federico Nucci, said on Monday in Algiers. He said security conditions at Algiers’ Houari Boumediene airport were satisfactory, and services could resume after the next meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in October. Western airlines suspended flights to Algeria in December 1994 following a bloody hostage-taking aboard an Air France Airbus. An Air France mission also arrived in Algiers Monday to examine the possibility of resuming flights.
