THE probe into allegations of corruption, nepotism and racism against Land Bank managing director Helena Dolny has been extended by 10 days, the bank said on Thursday. The firm of attorneys conducting the investigation has completed its study of the documents involved, but needs more time for interviews and to study related written submissions. Once this is finished, the evidence will have to be “reconciled” for a full report. On this basis, Agriculture Minister Thoko Didiza granted the investigators’ request for an extension.
The lawyers, Edward Nathan and Friedland Inc., were appointed on July 15 to carry out the probe, and given two weeks to complete the job. Dolny, the 45-year-old widow of SA Communist Party leader Joe Slovo, has held the post for three years.
