MAURITIUS BANS NUCLEAR SHIP

THE Mauritian government announced its opposition to the transfer of nuclear wastes and fuels from France to Japan via the Indian Ocean. In a statement on Friday after its weekly cabinet meeting, the government said it has decided that the two British vessels — Pacific Trail and Pacific Pintail — carrying nuclear wastes and fuels — will not be allowed into the Exclusive Economic Zone of Mauritius. The vessels are sailing via the Cape of Good Hope and the West Pacific Ocean. On 27 July they were reported to be on the Spanish coast.
