SAA TO COUGH UP FOR UNFAIR DISMISSAL

SOUTH African Airways has been ordered to pay its former cargo officer in Britain about R500000 as compensation for unfair dismissal. The airline sacked Annette Cowley last year after she complained about the 16-hour shifts at Heathrow airport. She said the shifts meant she could not look after her baby properly. An employment tribunal ordered SAA to give Cowley three years’ pay and said her treatment amounted to sexual discrimination.
