OFFICIALS in Mozambique have temporarily stopped pumping drinking water from the Inkomati River following reports that a paper plant in Nelspruit last week allowed chemical waste to escape into the river. Mozambican health authorities say they’re trying to determine the seriousness of the spillage. Authorities in Mozambique say they were alerted to the spillage by their South African counterparts and that tests by a South African laboratory show that there is no danger to human health. Mozambique, however, has sent specialists to South Africa to verify the situation further.
