IBA TAKES APPLICATIONS DECISIONS

THE Independent Broadcasting Commission has resolved to grant the application for the transfer of control of Orbicom (Pty)Ltd from Multi-choice Africa (Pty Ltd) and MIH Holdings to M-Cell (Ltd) , the authority said on Wednesday. Special advisor to the IBA chairman, Michael Markovitz, also said Jacaranda 92,7 FM was refused permission to install and use a one kilo-watt gapfiller from the Brixton Tower on 92,7 FM frequency. Markovitz said the decisions were taken after duly considering all relevant documentation, including the provisions of the respective broadcasting licences and the Independent Broadcasting Authority Act of 1993. The reasons for the decisions, according to Markovitz, will be made public in due course.
