UNIDENTIFIED attackers shot dead four men in KwaMashu, north Durban, police said on Saturday, as an anti-crime operation started in the gang-infested township. Two other men were wounded in the attack just before midnight on Friday in a men’s hostel. The motive for the attack was not known. About 19 people have been killed since August 20 in crime-related incidents around the township, which experiences frequent gang fighting, according to police. A joint police and army crime crackdown started operating in the township Saturday, including extra security patrols and roadblocks.
