GHANAIAN JUNIORS LOSE IN FINAL

THE Ghanaian under-23 team were knocked out of the 12-nation Bangabandhu Cup football tournament, losing 3-2 to Japan’s junior league selection team in the final in Dhaka Tuesday. Japan led the first-half assault with two goals by Koji Kotaoka in the 33rd and 45th minutes. Ghana’s Abdul Razak led a fierce second half counter beating Japanese goalkeeper Hiroki Mizuhara in the 55th minute. The scheduled 90-minute play ended in a 2-2 draw after Baba Amando Adamu forced the equaliser at the 72nd minute. Japan’s Takashi Takahashi brought his team the crucial win in the 9th minute of extra time.
