ZIM POLICE POUNCE AT GANGSTER FUNERAL

Police in Zimbabwe raided a Harare cemetery and arrested 27 suspected car-jackers and thieves who were burying a dead colleague. The police threw a cordon around Granville cemetery, situated on the outskirts of the capital, on Sunday. A gangster who had died in a high-speed car chase by police was being buried. Some of the suspected criminals, perturbed by the unusual police presence around the cemetery, tried to flee on foot as eulogies were under way at the graveside. During the operation at the funeral, police recovered four vehicles believed to have been stolen.
