TWO men who allegedly poisoned more than 50 wild animals and birds last month appeared briefly in the Messina Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Simon Mutavhatsindi, (34) and Andries Ndou, (40) were not asked to plead to charges of poisoning animals. Mutavhatsindi and Ndou are being held at Messina police station after they failed to raise R1000 bail each. Their case has been postponed to October 21, and investigators are waiting for laboratory results to find what poison was used to kill the animals. The two men allegedly poisoned water in a dam at Ostend farm, 20 kilometres east of Messina in the Northern Province.
