ONE of the five soldiers wounded in last week’s shooting at the Tempe military base in Bloemfontein is still in critical condition in hospital. Major Zirk Coetsee is being treated in the intensive care unit of the Pelonomi hospital. Another patient, Major Wiehan van Noordwyk, was transferred on Tuesday from Pelonomi to Bloemfontein’s 3 Military Hospital where he is in a stable condition. Captain Jan-Harm Steenkamp was discharged on Tuesday morning. The other two patients were discharged earlier. The five were injured at the Tempe base on Thursday last week when an officer, Lieutenant Sibusiso Madubela, went on a shooting rampage in which seven people were killed. Two of the victims — Major Jacques Coetzer, and Sergeant-Major Reg Sieberhagen — were buried on Tuesday. Staff Sergeant Dougie Douglas was buried at 10am on Wednesday, followed at 2pm by a cremation service for Warrant Officer Johan Lombard. The funeral services of Sergeants Willie Nell and Tertius Lombard will take place at 10am and 2pm respectively on Thursday.
