SA BOWLERS GET WORLD CUP INVITE

THE World Bowls Tour and Professional Bowlers Association have invited South African singles champion Gerry Baker to join Neil Burkett at the Bryant Cup tournament in England from September 27-30. The two players are considered to be among the best outdoor exponents of the sport, and their invitations from the world authorities are considered to be significant in the light of the forthcoming World Bowls Championship to be held in Johannesburg in April, 2000. The Bryant Cup is similar to Golf’s Ryder Cup and the bowlers have been chosen for a World Team to play a side chosen from the United Kingdom. Burkett and Baker team up with Rowan Brassey of New Zealand and Australians’ Ian Taylor and Ian Schubach.
