ELDERLY WOMAN NECKLACED IN N PROV

SIX people were arrested on Tuesday following the murder of a 63-year-old woman at Kampeng Village near Pietersburg at the weekend, Northern Province police reported. Clara Shabangu was stoned and then necklaced after she was accused of poisoning her 14-year old neighbour, Keledi Mziza. Keledi died last Friday after she allegedly ate meat given to her by Shabangu’s granddaughter. Senior Superintendent Phuti Setati said three youths and three adults were arrested in the mountains near the village. He said he expected more arrests would be made on Tuesday night. He did not know the exact number of people involved in the incident. Police are combing the mountains, looking for more suspects. The six are being held at Meckleinberg police cells. A post mortem would be conducted on Mziza on Wednesday, Setati said.
