AT least 11 people died and more than 60 others were injured when a bus carrying a school party plunged into a river in eastern Kenya early on Friday, state-owned KBC radio reported. The radio said the bus, nicknamed Sunbird, was transporting a school party of 88 pupils and teachers to the Kenyan capital to attend this year’s Nairobi International Trade Fair when it plunged 200 metres into the Thuci river on the Embu-Meru highway. Officials suspected brake failure as the cause of the accident. The injured were admitted to various hospitals in the region.
