FLANKER David Wilson gave Australia a morale-boost on Friday when he passed a fitness test and was confirmed in the Wallaby team to face Wales in the first World Cup quarter-final at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Wilson, who is playing in his third World Cup tournament, passed a test on an ankle he injured in a training accident with teammate Jeremy Paul earlier in the week. His availability is a boost for the Australians, who have seen hooker Phil Kearns and prop Patricio Noriega return home from the tournament with injuries and have been hit by several niggling ailments in the lead-up to the Wales match. Wilson’s fellow flanker Matt Cockbain, who has recovered from a knee injury that has allowed him to play only one half of rugby in the tournament so far, will also start against the Welsh.
