HERO LAMAISON LOST COUNT

FRENCH fly-half Christophe Lamaison lost count of how many points he scored in his side’s momentus 43-31 World Cup semi-final win over New Zealand at Twickenham on Sunday. “How many points did I score? I don’t know,” Lamaison said after a perfect goal-kicking performance had yielded him 28 points. The French, in dire straits for the past 18 months, reverted to their traditional flamboyant style against the tournament favourites and their willingness to throw the ball around saw them rally from 14 points down to score 33 straight points. “In this match you had to take risks,” said Lamaison.
